PROF. ASHOK BHATTACHARYA
Prof. Ashok Bhattacharya is a post graduate in Management with specialization in Human Resources from XLRI, Jamshedpur. He also underwent the Internship Programme of ISISD and a Certification in Group Relations methodology of Tavistock Institute. With a career spanning across 30years (1976-2007) in leading multinational and Indian companies like Pfizer, ITC General Electric and HCL Technologies – in areas of Human Resources, Leadership Development and Strategy, for the next 11 years (since 2007) he has been working in independent consulting and academics. He is a Practice Professor in the HR and OB Area and Chairperson Placement and Corporate Relations. In General Electric as the Vice President – HR, Prof. Bhattacharya managed the Human Resources Leadership Programme in consultation with GE’s Leadership Development Centre at Croton Ville. He is a certified CAP (Change Acceleration Program) Trainer by GE. In HCL Technologies as the Corporate Vice President HR, he was responsible for designing international HR policies and practices and then integrate them with business strategy and plans. As the Executive Director (HR) with Dalmia Cements, he was head of the function responsible for Human Resources Policies reporting to the Managing Director. Prof. Bhattacharya has conducted focused programmes for the corporate and other sectors on leadership, human resources and change management and taught courses at IIM Indore, IIT Delhi, MDI Gurgaon and IMT Ghaziabad among other business schools. He has also taught at MDPs of these institutions besides directing programmes for AIMA. As Director of ICC (Inward Change Conference), he ran large number of behavioural labs and Group Relations Conferences for the corporate, NGOs and educational institutions. Post his career within the industry, Prof. Bhattacharya has worked as an independent consultant and delivered assignments on Change, Leadership and Organization Development issues with a large number of organizations covering IT, Travel and Aviation, FMCG , Infrastructure sector and public sector organizations besides managing academic roles with business schools.
