The Government of India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has prioritized sustainable tourism as a key driver of economic growth and national development. Initiatives like ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ encourage domestic tourism, fostering a deeper appreciation for India’s diverse cultural and natural landscapes. India’s successful G20 presidency has further enhanced the nation’s global tourism profile, showcasing its unique offerings to the world. Furthermore, schemes like ‘Swadesh Darshan’ and a strong emphasis on sustainable tourism practices are crucial for fostering economic development, empowering local communities, and preserving India’s rich biodiversity and cultural heritage. By embracing sustainable tourism practices, India can achieve its ‘Vision Viksit Bharat@2047’ by creating a thriving tourism sector that benefits both the nation and its people.
